A north-east event has scooped an accolade at The 2019 Running Awards.
The BrewDog Run, organised by The Fit Like Joggers, received bronze in the Best Fun Run category.
The awards recognise the best in running and the shortlist is derived from votes and nominations from the public.
The BrewDog Run involves individuals running 21 miles from BrewDog’s Aberdeen Castlegate bar to Dop Tap in Ellon, by passing Dyce and Udny Station. Although not organised by BrewDog themselves, organisers The Fit Like Joggers work closely with the beer company to ensure they are happy with the event. The running event is held three times a year in June, October and during the Christmas period.
Co-organiser David Scott said: “We’ve always known that most runners like a beer, and what better format for a run, than to finish at a brewery.
“Although it is a fun run, the BrewDog Run is still quite a challenge, covering 21 miles, mostly off road. The Formartine and Buchan railway line makes for a great route, and the BrewDog brewery makes for the perfect destination.
“We’ve been delighted at how popular the BrewDog Runs have been and they’ve always been well supported and enjoyed. However, to hear that we had won third place in a national award for the best fun run in the UK was really an honour, and a testament to the hard work that goes into making it such a good day out.”
